Meghan Trainor’s family with Daryl Sabara might just be the epitome of adorable, but in her latest song “Whoops,” she’s addressing an ex who caused some trouble. Recently, the pop sensation unveiled the music video for “Whoops,” a pop-doo-wop gem from her newest album, Timeless.
In the video, Trainor is seen dancing and striking poses in a stark room, later entering with a baseball bat in hand. As she belts out the infectious lyrics about her supposed replacement, she unleashes her frustration by smashing up the furniture.
“And she got ’bout half/Of my looks with no class,” she croons. “Now you say, ‘Come back’/But I think what you really mean is whoops, you messed up.”
“Whoops” marks the fourth single from Timeless, joining tracks like “To the Moon,” “Been Like This” featuring T-Pain, and “I Wanna Thank Me” featuring Niecy Nash. Trainor has been teasing the music video for the song on TikTok and gave it a live debut on Today last Friday.
Speaking about the album on Today, Trainor expressed her desire for listeners to resonate with the self-love anthems, hoping they bring a smile to people’s faces. “It’s all the stuff I’m going through as a mom: trying to learn to love myself after two C-sections and being kinder to myself. I hope it makes [people] smile.”
