Ariana Grande’s latest music video, “the boy is mine,” from her album “eternal sunshine,” has just been released, and it’s packed with celebrity appearances.
Directed by Christian Breslauer, the video sees Grande transforming into Catwoman, sharing the screen with Penn Badgley from “You.” Badgley portrays a newly elected mayor who unleashes hungry cats onto the streets to tackle a rat infestation.
Adding to the star power, Brandy and Monica cameo as news reporters introducing the mayor before a press conference. Grande has previously expressed her admiration for the duo’s 1998 hit, which inspired her song.
“I’ve always wanted to reimagine that song in some way,” Grande explained to Zane Lowe. “There’s a significant portion of my fans who really gravitate towards a bad girl anthem, and I believe this is an elevated take on that.”
During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Grande confirmed Badgley’s involvement, noting her lifelong admiration for the actor.
